DESCRIPTION
Long-travel suspension and a harder-hitting motor, built for fast roads and rough ground.
The Lynx S is LeaperKim's stronger second take on the Lynx, the first wheel built on 151.2 V. It keeps that platform and its big-tire stance, adds a more powerful motor, and gives the FastAce shocks separate compression and rebound settings. With a top speed of 97 km/h, it has pace in reserve for open roads.
It inherits a ride riders already know from the Lynx: it climbs rutted hills without the pedals dipping, the suspension stays smooth and controlled off drops, and it feels more flickable than a Patton of similar weight. Its 42.5 kg and all that power ask for an experienced rider, and in return it handles fast roads and rough ground from one wheel. Next to the Sherman L it gives up some range to save weight, and pays it back in punch.
HEADROOM AT ROAD PACE
Rated at 3800 W and peaking at 10 000 W, the motor keeps answering when you lean in at high speed. A steep, rutted climb with a heavy rider on board stays well within its means.
DAMPING TUNED BOTH WAYS
Each FastAce shock sets compression and rebound separately: one decides how readily it sinks into a hit, the other how quickly it comes back. Getting both right keeps the tire tracking over fast, broken ground.
CELLS THAT TAKE HEAVY CURRENT
The 2700 Wh pack is built from Samsung 50S 21700 cells, a type known for holding up under high current. That matters on a motor this strong when you open it up out of a turn.
TWO PORTS FOR SHORTER STOPS
The supplied 5 A charger fills the pack in about 4 h. With extra chargers on both ports it takes up to 20 A, enough to turn a café stop into a useful top-up.

QUESTIONS
It can do town riding, but it is built for riders who mix fast roads with dirt, drops and rough tracks. If your riding is mainly city streets and you want 151.2 V without the bulk, the NOSFET AEON shares that voltage at 29 kg. The Lynx S pays off when the route leaves the pavement and the pace climbs.
On paper they are close: similar mass and similar batteries, 2700 Wh against 2664 Wh. The F18 is built around climbing power and easy servicing: up to 320 N·m of torque, four-point DNM suspension with 100 mm of travel and a quick-release motor. The Lynx S takes riders up to 150 kg, and you set it up for your riding when ordering: a coil spring weight to match your body weight, and a street or knobby tread.
Two things. The coil spring weight is picked to match your body weight, and it sets the base that the damping and air chambers then fine-tune, so choose it with your riding weight in gear in mind. The tread comes as a street or a knobby version: street for asphalt and hard paths, knobby if you often ride loose dirt or wet grass.
The controller has a hall-less mode, so the wheel keeps balancing if a motor sensor fails instead of losing its footing. A temperature sensor watches the motor during long climbs and hard riding. On a wheel with a 97 km/h top speed, these quiet safeguards deserve as much attention as the power figures.
