Frequently asked questions

What makes the Leaperkim ORYX stand out?

The 176.4 V platform and 4700 Wh battery. Both numbers sit at or near the top of what any production EUC currently offers. The ORYX is Leaperkim's next-generation flagship: upgraded motherboard, upgraded motor, upgraded suspension over earlier Veteran builds.

What is the expected range on the ORYX?

With 4700 Wh at 176.4 V you are in serious touring territory. Spec-condition range estimates land in the 200 to 300 km zone (75 kg rider, flat cruise at 35 km/h). Aggressive high-speed riding still leaves you with 120+ km, which few other wheels match.

What kind of tires does it use?

Tubeless knobby tires. That configuration is off-road biased; the tread pattern grips dirt, gravel, and rough trail surfaces better than a street-pattern tire. On tarmac knobby tread is louder and has slightly higher rolling resistance.

Why 176.4 V?

Higher voltage lets the motor draw more power without asking extreme current from the battery cells. That translates to stronger acceleration at speed, better torque for climbs, and less voltage sag at the top of the rev range. The ORYX uses voltage the way the Master uses it, pushed even further.

Is the ORYX a beginner wheel?

No, and it is not even an intermediate wheel. This is an enthusiast flagship. Weight, suspension, high voltage, and the scale of battery all demand experienced riders. Minimum realistic prerequisite: extensive hours on Sherman or Lynx-class wheels before the ORYX.

What suspension variant is offered?

Current listing shows a 66 lbs suspension damping option. That refers to the spring or damper setting, tuned for lighter to middle-weight riders. Heavier riders should ask OneRide about stiffer alternatives for their weight.

Is the ORYX street-legal in Spain or the UK?

No. Spain does not homologate EUCs as VMP, and the ORYX platform is engineered for performance well beyond any commuter envelope. UK classifies EUCs as PLEV, illegal on public roads and pavements. Private land and off-road only.

The ultra-long-range Veteran flagship.

The ORYX sits at the top of the Veteran-platform range. Where the Sherman L and Veteran Lynx are tuned for power and off-road versatility, the ORYX is tuned for distance. The 4700 Wh pack is one of the largest in the EUC market; the 22″ tire and 90 mm hydraulic suspension are tuned for long-haul cruising rather than tight off-road manoeuvres.

22″ tubeless. Hydraulic bidirectional suspension. 150 kg rider ceiling.

The 150 kg rider ceiling acknowledges that the typical ORYX rider is carrying gear over distance. IPX6 sealing. Smart BMS with cell balancing — important on a 4700 Wh pack where small per-cell drift becomes large drift across the whole capacity.

§ 02 / Systems

Four choices that define the ORYX.

Leaperkim · Veteran ORYX · 2025
01

176.4 V architecture

Top of EUC voltages. Less current, less heat, less voltage sag at low state of charge.

02

4700 Wh pack

Among the largest in any EUC. Samsung 50S high-discharge cells with smart BMS and cell balancing.

03

Hydraulic bidirectional

90 mm. Controls compression and rebound — important on a 57 kg chassis where uncontrolled rebound throws the rider.

04

22″ tubeless

Bigger wheel rolls over surface input rather than crashing into it. Matters at touring distances.

§ 03 / EnergyBattery

4700 Wh · 176.4 V.

Samsung 50S · smart BMS

The 176.4 V architecture lets the controller run at lower current for the same power output — practical effect: less heat, less voltage sag, longer cell life over the working window.

§ 06 / Who rides it

The ORYX rewards riders who actually ride 150 km in a day.

A

Long-distance touring

Long-distance touring riders who want the range envelope.

150 kg rider ceiling — among the highest in the EUC market. Gear over distance is the design intent.

C

Sherman L upgraders

Riders moving up from Sherman L who want the bigger wheel and the bigger pack.

Q-01ORYX or Sherman L?

Sherman L: ~3000 Wh class, 100.8 V, slightly smaller wheel, faster off-road feel. ORYX: 4700 Wh, 176.4 V, 22″ wheel, tuned for long-haul cruising.

Q-02ORYX or Veteran Lynx?

Lynx is suspension-tuned for off-road and is lighter (~50 kg). ORYX is bigger and longer-range, tuned for touring.

Q-03Is 93 mph realistic riding speed?

No — that's the motor's no-load stator spin. Real riding tops at ~80–90+ km/h on private land. Public-road operation is capped at 25 km/h.

Q-04Why does the 176 V architecture matter?

At higher pack voltage the controller draws less current for the same power, which means less heat, less voltage sag, and longer cell life. Practical effect on the ORYX: more usable range across the battery's full working window.

Q-05Can I commute with it?

Technically yes, but 57 kg is a serious chassis to lift onto a tram or up stairs. The ORYX is at home on long-distance routes.

Q-06EU warranty?
