Overview

Seats on electric unicycles are a touring thing, not a learning or commuter thing. The concept originated with the old Gotway MCM and MSP wheels where riders wanted to extend daily range from 40 km to 150 km without calf and foot fatigue cutting the day short. Modern EUC seats fall into two categories: removable saddle attachments that strap on for long rides and come off for city riding, and dedicated seat mounts bolted on for riders who always ride seated.

The most common brands: Clark Pedals makes seat kits for Sherman and Master platforms. LeoDuty is a popular EU maker with well-padded saddle options for multiple chassis. Custom fabricators produce wheel-specific seat-and-handlebar combos for riders who commit fully to seated touring. Riding seated changes everything about the wheel. Center of gravity drops, turning radius tightens in one direction and widens in the other, and acceleration response softens because the rider no longer uses calf pressure for acceleration input. The learning curve for seated riding is real, maybe 10-20 hours before it feels natural. Not every rider takes to it. Those who do often switch to it permanently for touring.
