Overview

Pedals are the single component a rider interacts with constantly. Every meter ridden goes through the soles of your shoes on a pair of folding aluminum plates. Stock pedals on most EUCs are adequate. Some are genuinely good. A few are outright bad. The aftermarket pedal ecosystem exists because experienced riders eventually want more grip, better fold angles, or larger platforms than factory ships.

Three brands dominate: Clark Pedals out of the US with the flagship Honey Badger and various model-specific plates, NyloNove from Europe with modular designs, and Grizzla from China with popular magnetic and fixed options. Beyond those, brands like XMX, Nikola-fit aftermarket, and custom EU machinists cover the long tail. The upgrade logic is typically: more grip first (studded or pinned surfaces), then larger platform (more foot support on long rides), then magnetic fold (pedals stay extended without snapping up on rough ground). Some riders go the other way and prefer smaller, lower pedals for tricks and play riding. There is no single right answer. What matters is matching pedal to rider style and wheel chassis.
